Essential and non-essential fatty acids

Omega-3 and Omega-6 are considered to be essential fatty acids. A horse cannot produce Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, consequently they need to be added to the diet daily.

Why: Particularly because of their role in the prostaglandin production.

Omega-3 produces a prostaglandin that results in a reduced inflammatory response compared to Omega-6 which produces a prostaglandin that causes an increased internal inflammatory response.

In other words, Omega-3 and Omega-6 are producing an opposite effect of each other.

Consequently a good balance between Omega-3 and Omega-6 is of utmost importance.

Please note: we have highlighted one of many processes for which the essential fatty acids are responsible. Omega-6 is also responsible for the production of other hormones and steroids, which are essential for normal, healthy body functions in the horse.

Omega-9 is considered a non-essential fatty acid as it can be produced by the horse.

Antioxidants

Relax Oil contains natural Vitamin E, an Antioxidant Extraordinaire!

As horses are unable to produce Vitamin E themselves it must be provided in their diet daily.

Please note, the Vitamin E in Relax Oil occurs naturally, there is nothing added!

100% Single Cold Pressed Flaxseed Oil

Quality is of utmost importance to us and Relax Oil is 100% from the single cold pressed extraction process.

To process linseed for oil production, the extraction is done by cold pressing the seed to maintain the integrity of the oil and ensuring your horse receives the best quality oil with maximum benefits.

Neither chemicals nor heat have been added during this extraction.  Single cold pressed is the same as cold pressed.

Cool Source of Energy

Fat and oils have about 3 times the energy of oats, approx. 2.5 times the energy of corn and 4 times the energy of hay.

Oil is readily digested in the small intestine and it may even improve the digestion of other feeds. (The presence of Oil triggers a physiological response to slow down the digestive system and feed remains longer in the small intestine, increasing the time of digestion).

Oil does not create an Insulin response as it travels through the blood as fat not sugar (glucose)

Food Grade, Nutritional Quality Assurance

Relax Cold Pressed Flaxseed Oil is sourced from food grade suppliers complying with ISO22000, it is laboratory tested to ensure a high grade oil and Omega profile which is guaranteed as stated on the label.

Flaxseed vs Linseed

Flaxseed is also known as Linseed and originates from the plant Linum usitatissimum.
